Default Damage Types?

So what exactly is so special about all these damage types?

Earth
Fire
Water
Lightning

etc...

Im using my Elementalist and I see all these armors vs fire, lighning, earth, but I dont know what to use and where.

Unlike the rangers druid set (which just increases mana and is "rounded out" in that manner), the Elementalists have armors only vs one type of damage and no energy + armor. I kinda got to assuming that I would have to buy a set of hydromancers armor for the mountains and a set of pyromancers armor when Im in ascalon or the fire islands. (which I dont want to do)

I wanted to buy a Geomancers armor because at that time I thought Earth = physical but now I have seccond thoughts and I cant really tell what is Earth damage is and what it isnt.

Is there an armor that I can use that has a small general protection vs all kinds of attacks or none of the attacks?

And also, I want to know what kind of enemy attacks are mostly found in Kryta, Druids, and the Desert. (Eg: Fire islands = mostly fire [Hydras, Titans])

*Since you're an elementalist, the armors are all pretty straight foward and based around elemental armor. Fire, Earth, Water, Air Damages. There are no tricks around like your thought of Earth = Does not equal physical armor (there are earth spells and some attacks do earth damage).

*Buying sets of armor to adjust to the monsters may be optimal, but most certainly a waste of money and you can easily get by with just one set with no trouble.

*Lastly~
The Kryta and Druids area seem to be mostly (Based on what an elementalist can do to prepare) Air and Fire damages?

In the Desert, definately Fire.

[edit] Made a few changes in what I wrote.

Hmm thanks, I think itll be useful just to get a pyro and hydro armor since thats where I spend most of my time anyway.

Then about the attacks I do. I know that Vs Ice, Fire damage does well and vice versa but what about things like boulders, and the undead (or smoke phantoms)? Are there any attacks that are optimal for those creatures?

if u plan on doing some pvp u shud probly get the aeromancer armor considering most elementalists are air. Thus they do air damage.

Yeah I can see why people would choose air.

I dont do too much PvP myself though. I might soon; I got a few strategies set up.

Anyways, any thoughts on the above (x2) ?

Can't think of anything that's stronger against the Boulder monsters, but for the Undead and stuff their weakness is the same as every other game, Holy or Light dmg (Monk skills).
